Planning & Zoning Commission

The P & Z Commission met at 1:30 May 4, 2009 in the Council Chambers at city Hall.

On the agenda were five Plats and one Zone change. Each of the proposed Plats called for a Public Hearing however, no member of the public was there to speak for or against any of them. One plat divided a lot into two residential lots. One plat was allowed in order to install a water line. Another plat was replatted to build a Credit Union building while another was changed to allow a new hotel to be built. Finally there was a replat of the Lot where the Red Cross building is located. All plats were approved.

The only Zone Change involved a lot across from Craig Middle School. All the lots on the east side of Judge Ely have been zoned either Office or Agricultural Open Space. The city staff and the property developers agreed to a Planned Development District for the lots directly across from the school. There was concern by the P & Z about the type of businesses that would be allowed across from a school and listed those to be excluded in the motion to approve the rezoning. Now the change goes to the City Council and will probably be on the agenda at the Council’s next regular meeting. If you as a member of the AAIBO have comments or questions please e-mail at: david@aaibo.com.
